These terms are an agreement between the business using Weza ("you") and SIONA Technologies Limited, company number PVT-YQ19MQ32, whose registered office is at Baraka, Building 5, Nanyuki, Laikipia County, Kenya (postal address: P.O. Box 5, 10400 Nanyuki, Kenya) ("SIONA", "we"). By using Weza you accept them. If you join the Weza beta, the Beta Participation Terms also apply.

1. What Weza does

Weza helps you keep simple business records by talking to it on WhatsApp at +254 743 971021. That number is an automated service; for help from a person, email support@sionaglobal.com. You can:

  • record sales and expenses by sending a text message;
  • ask for a summary of your sales, expenses and an estimated tax position.

These features are experimental. They are available but may not always work correctly, so check what Weza sends back:

  • recording by voice note or receipt photo;
  • confirming, correcting or undoing entries;
  • signing in to the Weza website with your WhatsApp number to view and manage your records.

Features shown on our website as "coming soon" are not part of the service until we announce them. We may improve or change features; if a change takes away something you rely on, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can.

2. Who can use Weza

You must be at least 18 and have authority to act for the business you register. Each business is linked to the WhatsApp number that set it up. Keep your phone and WhatsApp account secure: anyone who controls that WhatsApp account can add to and read your Weza records.

3. Your records

Your business records belong to you. You give SIONA permission to store and process them only to provide Weza to you, keep it secure and improve its accuracy for you, as described in the Privacy Notice. We do not sell your records or show them to other Weza businesses.

If your messages or receipts include information about other people (for example a customer's name), you are responsible for having a lawful reason to share it with Weza. For that information you decide why it is recorded, and SIONA processes it only on your behalf: to provide Weza to you, keeping it secure and separate from other businesses, helping you answer requests about it, and deleting it when you stop using Weza.

4. Price

Weza is currently free. We will not charge you, or start any automatic payment, unless you have first accepted separately published paid-plan terms.

5. Accuracy, accounting and tax

Weza is a record-keeping aid. Please read this section carefully.

  • Weza uses artificial intelligence to read your messages, voice notes and receipts. It can misread amounts, dates, categories and names. Check every confirmation Weza sends and correct anything that is wrong.
  • Weza is not an accountant, auditor, tax adviser, lawyer, bank or licensed financial adviser, and does not give professional advice.
  • Weza does not file tax returns, register you with KRA, or issue or transmit eTIMS invoices. It is not a KRA-certified or eTIMS-integrated system.
  • VAT and other tax figures in Weza are estimates to help you plan. They are not a tax assessment. Confirm your obligations with KRA or a qualified tax professional.
  • Weza does not hold money, process payments or confirm that a payment was received.
  • Keep your own records as well, especially during the pilot.

6. Acceptable use

When using Weza you must not:

  • use another person's WhatsApp number or business without their authority, or try to access another business's records;
  • send content that is unlawful, fraudulent, threatening, or that infringes someone else's rights;
  • send malware, or try to probe, overload, disrupt or reverse-engineer the service;
  • use Weza to record proceeds of crime, launder money or evade tax;
  • send automated or bulk messages to Weza, or resell access to it;
  • send sensitive personal data Weza does not need, such as national ID numbers, PINs, passwords or health information.

We may pause or end your access if you break these rules or if we need to protect other users or the service. Unless the situation is urgent or the law prevents it, we will tell you why and how to contact us.

7. Availability

Weza depends on WhatsApp, internet connections and our service providers. We work to keep it running but cannot promise it will always be available or error-free. Messages may be delayed or not delivered if WhatsApp or your network has problems.

8. Stopping

You can stop using Weza at any time. To ask us to delete your data, follow the Data Requests procedure. We may stop offering Weza, or end your access, with 14 days' notice, unless we must act sooner for legal or security reasons. Before closure we will give you a reasonable chance to request a copy of your records.

9. Responsibility for loss

Weza is provided free during the pilot. To the extent the law allows, SIONA is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or losses from decisions you make using Weza's records or estimates, and SIONA's total liability to you is limited to KES 10,000. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Data Protection Act, 2019 or any consumer-protection law that applies to you.

10. Complaints and disputes

Tell us first by emailing support@sionaglobal.com. Our Complaints procedure explains what happens next. These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. If we cannot settle a dispute within 30 days of you raising it, either of us may refer it to mediation in Nairobi. If mediation does not resolve it, the courts of Kenya decide it.

11. Changes to these terms

We will post changes here with a new version and date. For material changes we will give you notice through Weza on WhatsApp before they take effect. If you keep using Weza after that, the new terms apply.
